Project Objective:
The goal of this project is to create a regular platform for discussing new regulatory proposals related to Internet governance, promoting transparency, fairness, and the inclusion of various social groups in the process of shaping global digital policy. This platform will allow both the GAC and ALAC communities to quickly adapt to new regulatory challenges and effectively engage in the development of international policies. With the support of ICANN's Global Engagement Team, the project aims to effectively coordinate collaboration between governments and societal stakeholders to respond to the growing challenges associated with global Internet governance.
Project Assumptions:
-
Regular Sessions: The project involves organizing monthly sessions, providing participants with a space to discuss the latest regulations, challenges, and trends in Internet governance.
-
Meeting Format: The sessions will take the form of short, 60-minute meetings where key topics related to progress in international law regulations, including in the context of the WSIS+20 (World Summit on the Information Society), will be discussed.
-
Knowledge Exchange and Collaboration: Participants – government representatives and individual Internet users – will have the opportunity to exchange opinions and develop common positions aimed at proposing global solutions to the future challenges of the Internet and its regulation.
Implementation Plan:
-
Preparation Sessions: Prior to each session, preparatory meetings will be organized to fine-tune topics, key points, and logistics for the upcoming meeting.
-
Coordination with ICANN: All costs related to organizing the meetings will be covered by ICANN, with Lodz Cyber Hub serving as the coordinating body for organizing the meetings and working sessions.
-
Progress Assessment: During each meeting, current progress in regulations will be discussed, and the latest legislative proposals impacting global Internet governance will be highlighted. Regular sessions will allow quick responses to changing circumstances in this area.
Benefits for Participants:
The project enables participants to gain a better understanding of current regulatory trends and allows them to actively participate in the creation of global policies that shape the future of the Internet. The regular sessions also serve as a space for collaboration between stakeholders from various sectors, and the exchange of views helps make more informed decisions.
Project Duration:
2025 - 2026 (with the possibility of extension).
