In 2023, the Lodz Cyber Hub (LCH) had the honor of co-organizing the GIG-ARTS conference, an annual interdisciplinary academic event focused on global Internet governance (GIG) and its evolving impact across research disciplines. The conference serves as an important platform for expanding academic dialogue on internet governance, complementing discussions from major international forums such as the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

This year's GIG-ARTS conference explored the critical intersections of cybersecurity, sovereignty, and human rights. Among the key topics was a focused discussion on the governance of critical internet infrastructure (CII). The LCH hosted a dedicated session, bringing together experts from various fields to analyze how cybersecurity measures, legal frameworks, and regional governance affect the security and resilience of vital internet infrastructures.

The discussions at LCH helped deepen the understanding of the complex challenges surrounding CII governance, with an emphasis on both European and global perspectives. The session highlighted the importance of addressing infrastructure vulnerabilities, including those related to satellite systems, subsea cables, and telecommunications networks. The event concluded with recommendations for enhanced regional cooperation and the development of robust legal mechanisms to ensure the continued security of these essential global assets.

A presentation on human dignity in the context of the fight against cybercrime will be delivered by Magdalena Róża Krysiak, a PhD candidate at the UniLodz Doctoral School.
