The course, "Privacy in a Connected World," will focus on three major areas: wearable medical devices, smart home gadgets, and connected toys. It will provide accessible information on the legal and social challenges of protecting privacy, explaining complex concepts in an understandable way for non-specialists. The project will also develop digital competencies necessary for using new technologies safely and will train "cyber ambassadors" who will further disseminate this knowledge within their communities. The goal is to enable users to critically assess new technologies and make informed decisions about the information they share online.
Funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ program, the project aims to help individuals navigate the risks associated with emerging technologies. With a budget of over €200,000, the project is scheduled to run for two years and is set to produce its results by the end of August 2021. The University of Łódź, as the project's coordinator, will contribute to the global conversation on privacy protection and provide actionable insights to the public on how to safeguard personal data in the digital age.
