We are launching the project "Performative Research in the Face of Civilizational Challenges" – this month, we will announce the first Open Call for artists!
The University of Łódź Foundation is pleased to announce the start of the project "Performative Research in the Face of Civilizational Challenges," which combines artistic creation with interdisciplinary research on key challenges of the modern world. This project offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative solutions aimed at improving social well-being.
This month, we will announce the first Open Call for artists interested in participating in an artistic residency focused on the theme of well-being.
About the Project
In the project, we are developing a method we have named PEREBEL. It combines a performative approach with revolutionary thinking, creating innovative tools to address contemporary civilizational problems. The theme of the first residency focuses on the well-being of seniors – their physical, mental, and social challenges. Artists will be challenged to create works together with a scientific team that propose concrete solutions to improve the quality of life for older adults – social services, workshop scenarios, public space designs, etc.
Questions we ask:
● How can performative arts tools be used to contribute to the well-being of seniors, considering their unique needs and challenges?
● What actions can support the mental, physical health, and social integration of older adults?
● How can art help combat social isolation and improve the quality of life for seniors?
This challenge requires participants to be bold in breaking conventions and willing to experiment at the intersection of various fields. The projects should focus on practical solutions that will have a real impact on the lives of seniors and their environment.
Residency Details:
● Number of spots: A group of 3-5 artists selected through a competition.
● Duration of residency: 30 days of work between October 14 and November 24, 2024
● Compensation: 8000 PLN per resident
● Provided: Accommodation and partial travel costs coverage
● Additional support: Artists will have access to rehearsal spaces and movement exploration, design workshops, business planning, and mentoring support from experts in various fields, including cultural studies, design, gerontology, and senior care practices.
● Presentation of works: Projects created during the residency will be presented at a public finale.
