The team of researchers from the University of Lodz, i.e. Prof. Aneta Pawłowska – Head, Dr Magdalena Milerowska, Dr Paulina Długosz, Dr Daria Rutkowska-Siuda, Dr Adam Drozdowski and mgr Agnieszka Kołodziejczak, is in the final of the 20th edition of the "Popularyzator Nauki" competition for their activities aimed at improving access to culture and art for people with special needs (the name of the submitted team: "W stronę dostępności. Zespół badaczy z Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego" [Towards accessibility. A team of researchers from the University of Lodz]).
We have been working on supporting people with special needs in their access to art and culture at the Institute of History of Art of the University of Lodz since 2013. In recent years, we have implemented two large projects: "Sztuka łódzka na tle sztuki europejskiej. Wykluczeni/Włączeni" [Łódź art against the background of European art. Excluded/Included] and "Przyjazne miasto. Wsparcie samodzielności osób z dysfunkcją wzroku w zakresie wykorzystania sieci połączeń komunikacji miejskiej w Łodzi" [Friendly city. Supporting the independence of people with visual impairments in using public transport network in Lodz] (co-financed by the European Union and the National Centre for Research and Development) as well as a number of smaller activities for the inclusiveness of art. We are extremely pleased that these activities are recognised and contribute to a different perception of the world around us.
– underlines Prof. Aneta Pawłowska (Institute of History of Art of the University of Lodz)
