The 10-person team publishes on the Internet records of conversations and interviews with people who create their unique everyday lives. This way, they introduce the topic of social diversity and at the same time get credit for the classes conducted by Dr Marta Kucharska-Hauk from the Institute of Psychology at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Lodz. The activity is supported by RESET – Redesigning Equality and Scientific Excellence Together.
Dr Marta Kucharska-Hauk expains:
I want my classes to have a practical dimension, so that all the works written and created within the classes do not end up in a drawer. I would like them to live their own lives and be exploited.
This is where the idea of publishing conversations and interviews on social media came from. Thanks to this, the results of the students' work have a chance to reach a wide audience.
The project team includes 9 female students and 1 male student. This is what they say about their actions:
We bring closer the diversity hidden in everyone's environment. We talk to interesting people in order to better understand the richness of experiences, preferences, differences in lifestyles. Diversity is evidence of the uniqueness of each individual. No two people are the same and never will be. It is very important to accept this diversity and the right to express oneself – respecting everyone's boundaries.
"We show differences to unite" is the slogan behind this project. By publishing conversations on social media, the students support the process of becoming familiar with diversity in society.
In getting used to diversity, it is important to change the perspective –- to listen to other person. It greatly broadens our horizons and raises our awareness. The key is to listen with openness, without looking for counter-arguments
– says Dr Marta Kucharska-Hauk.
The meetings, conversations and interviews are sometimes anonymous. They are available on the following social media pages:
