Studentka UŁ w czołówce Mistrzostw Europy

Weronika Barcz was twelfth at European Championships in the 100 meters hurdles among female competitors up to the age of 23. This is a great achievement and an honour for a competitor of the Academic Sports Association in Lodz (AZS Łódź) and, at the same time, a student of the University of Lodz.

The AZS Łódź hurdler – Weronika Barcz

The athlete, who trains under the guidance of coach Mikołaj Justyński, competed in the Finnish Espoo in the 100-meter hurdles race. In the qualifying round she achieved a result of 13.50 s, thanks to which she got to the next round. In the semi-final she ran the distance in 13.61 s and was ranked 12th in the ranking of the European Championships.

The recent achievements of the AZS Łódź hurdler include a silver medal and the title of the Polish Vice-Champion in the 100-meter hurdles (up to the age of 23). In previous years, the competitor stood on the podium several times, winning, among others, the title of Vice-Champion of Europe (up to 20 years) and the bronze medal of the Polish Championships.

Weronika Barcz is a student at the University of Lodz and one of the beneficiaries of the "Studies and Sport" programme at the University of Lodz. University of Lodz has introduced a dual career programme for athletes who study at our university. It provides young contenders with greater flexibility in planning, which allows them to develop their sports career without compromising the didactic process.

The programme is available to all students regardless of the level and form of studies, whose high sports level has been confirmed by a relevant institution. The athletes are included in the programme throughout the entire period of education but can voluntarily withdraw from it at any time.
