On October 11-26, 2022, the Centre for Asian Affairs team conducted a research visit to Singapore, during which a series of interviews were conducted with scientists from renowned research centers, such as ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS). In addition, during a visit to RSIS, Prof. D. Mierzejewski and P. Ciborek presented research results on the activity of Chinese provinces in Southeast Asia within the Belt and Road initiative(here). Team members also took part in a meeting with Ambassador Magdalena Bogdziewicz at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Singapore.
The third team member, M. Chatys, conducted a study in Singapore on China's management of crises with Malaysia and the Philippines in the South China Sea as part of a faculty grant awarded by the Faculty of International and Political Studies at the University of Lodz. During his stay, in addition to the library query, he conducted a series of interviews with employees of ISEAS, RSIS and the Singapore branch of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). During the meetings, M. Chatys collected information on the perception of Chinese activity in the disputed areas of the South China Sea by countries from the Southeast Asia region.
