He graduated cultural studies at the University of Łódź and the Faculty of Film and Television Directing at the Łódź Film School (PWSFTviT)

He was a director of: 
•    Serce dzwonu [The heart of the bell] – 1997, 
•    Walizka [The suitcase] – 1998; award at Plovdiv Television Festival, award of the President of the Board of TVP Robert Kwiatkowski, show qualified for Polish film review in Toronto,
•    Dalej niż na wakacje [More than holidays] – 1999; award of the audience at the Festival of Children's Creativity in Poznań,
•    Żywot Łazika z Tormesu [The Life of the Łazik of Tormes] – 1999, 
•    Miłość od pierwszego wejrzenia [Love at first sight] – 1999; TV programme-35 episodes,
•    Opowieść Wigilijna [Christmas Eve Story] – 2000. 

He made his debut in 2002 with the film "Edi". He is an author and a co-author of programmes about art, music videos and documentaries (among others "Roman Kramsztyk - powrót", "Katalog", "Candid Camera zapis cenzurowany", "Inny teatr", "Malowanki Franka Firanki"). 
Piotr Trzaskalski was honoured with the Paszport Polityki [Political Passport] award for his artistic activity.
