Nowa inwestycja – UniLodz korzysta z odnawialnych źródeł energii

University of Lodz has received a grant of PLN 7,928,542 for the construction of photovoltaic installations under a resolution of the Supervisory Board of the Voivodship Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Lodz. Work has already begun and will continue until the end of 2024. The primary objective of the investment is to increase the proportion of electricity from renewable sources, to increase the functionality of the existing electricity network by reducing its operating costs, reducing power generation from conventional energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The installation of technology enabling the use of renewable energy on the University of Lodz buildings will constitute the result of the project. The planned investment will be for the production of electricity, which will be used in part for its own needs and, in the case of heat, entirely for its own needs. A proportion of electricity in excess of own consumption will be stored in the grid for later use. The measures taken will not only result in financial savings, but will also raise the environmental awareness and knowledge of building users on environmental protection, energy conservation and renewable energy sources.

The investment stages

The first phase of the investment started in 2023. That’s when the formal part of the project consisting in obtaining connection conditions began. The installation of photovoltaic panels at the University of Lodz Faculty of Management began in February 2024.
