During this session, we will discuss the impact of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, data governance models, and digital infrastructure on sustainable development goals. The challenges of using modern technologies in regions such as Iran, Ukraine, and Gaza will be explored, where digital innovations can influence stabilization and socioeconomic development. Full recording of the session can be found here.
Key questions to be addressed include:
- How can a multistakeholder approach to Internet governance help address issues arising from the use of LEO satellites and new data governance models, particularly in Africa?
- How can cybersecurity policies be adapted to the challenges posed by digital innovations in conflict-affected regions, such as Ukraine or Palestine?
- How can data sovereignty be protected in the context of globalization and the development of national policies?
The session will feature distinguished experts: Dr. Berna Akçali GUR, Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London, Dan YORK, Director at the Internet Society, and Jane COFFIN, Board Member of the African Exchange Point Association (Af-IX).
