Professor John Wilkins (Emeritus Professor, University of Exeter) is a food historian and historian of medicine. In his research he focuses on dietetics and pharmacology in the light of Galen of Pergamum’s writings (2nd/3rd c.). The information from his medical texts, such as dietary habits in the ancient Mediterranean, Prof. Wilkins interprets in the context of social history, complementing our knowledge on everyday life in antiquity.
