[EEAS] EU Cyber Direct

EU Cyber Direct is an EU-funded initiative aimed at supporting policy development, research, outreach, and capacity building in the field of cyber diplomacy. Launched in 2018, the project focuses on advancing the EU's cyber diplomacy efforts by fostering collaboration between the EU and other stakeholders. Its main goal is to identify opportunities for increased convergence on the application of international law in cyberspace, as well as the development of cyber norms and confidence-building measures. The initiative also monitors cyber-related processes at global, regional, and national levels.

The project seeks to enhance the participation of various stakeholders in regional and global discussions on responsible behaviour and resilience in cyberspace. By building capacity and sharing knowledge, EU Cyber Direct aims to promote the EU's standards, policies, and best practices. It is dedicated to strengthening the global dialogue on cyber diplomacy and encouraging a more unified approach to cybersecurity challenges.

EU Cyber Direct is structured around four key themes: (1) conflict prevention and advancing responsible behaviour in cyberspace through international law, norms, and confidence-building measures, (2) cyber resilience and protection of critical infrastructure, (3) combating cybercrime and ensuring criminal justice in cyberspace, and (4) addressing the impact of new and emerging technologies that have the potential to disrupt cybersecurity. These themes guide the initiative's efforts to promote a more secure and resilient global cyber environment.
