The conference was aimed at discussing South Korea's cooperation with the Visegrad Group countries in the broader context of global challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, problems with supply chains or Russia's invasion of Ukraine. During the discussion issues related to North Korea were also raised - with regard to possible reunification, the consolidation of peace on the Korean Peninsula or the functioning of the Kaesong Industrial Region, which had to be suddenly closed due to the political situation (whether companies operating in Eastern Europe may have similar concerns in the context of Russian aggression?).
Dr Joanna Beczkowska presented a speech on cooperation in the V4 + Republic of Korea format, highlighting both the achievements related primarily to foreign direct investments (FDI) and their impact on the transformation of the Visegrad Group countries, as well as the unused potential of opportunities offered by multilateral cooperation and bilateral cooperation in other than FDI areas. The discussion also touched upon the issues of cooperation between South Korea and Central and Eastern Europe under the free trade agreement with the European Union.
