"Odyseja" performance will take place as part of the new summer festival CHOREOGRAFIE MIASTA [CITY CHOREOGRAPHIES], co-organised with the Lodz Event Centre as part of the Przestrzenie Sztuki [Art Spaces] programme.
- We invite viewers to a place where a journey begins or ends. At the railway station – between train arrivals and departures – we will experience the journey together at its various moments: just before "departure", in the moment of doubt and in the process of maturation – a ritual "death to a new life". Each participant will receive a headset, which will be a gateway to the intimate world created by the performers and inaccessible to random passers-by. Through the language of theatre and dance, we will investigate to what extent the archetype of homo viator – a man on the way is up to date – the organisers write.
The premiere of the "Odyseja" project took place a year ago as part of the programme of the International Symposium "Laboratory of Dance/Dance as a Vantage point" in partnership with the University of Lodz. The performance is both an artistic proposal and a presentation of research results – "research" covering the issues of presence and participation in a dance performance.
