Lodz Cyber Hub Hosts a dedicated Rule of Law and Human Rights Event: In culmination of the FRA EU Scientific Committee's 2018-2023 term, the Lodz Cyber Hub proudly hosted an in-person event in Lodz, focused on the rule of law in Europe and the contemporary challenges it faces, particularly regarding human rights methodologies and their impact.

Key Highlights:

Global Participation: The event welcomed 50 distinguished participants from across the globe, representing a wide array of perspectives and experiences. This diverse group enriched the discussions and helped ensure a comprehensive approach to the issues at hand.

Open Dialogue: A central feature of the event was its commitment to open and interdisciplinary dialogue. Attendees included academics, judges, journalists, civil society actors, human rights practitioners, and experts committed to addressing the challenges confronting the rule of law in Europe and beyond. The collaborative atmosphere fostered engaging and thought-provoking conversations on how to protect and strengthen the rule of law.

Reflecting on the Rule of Law: Throughout the event, there was a focus on critically examining the state of the rule of law in Europe today. Discussions explored the evolving challenges that threaten this foundational pillar of democratic societies, with participants offering insight into ways of addressing these issues.

Human Rights Methodologies: A key theme was the role of human rights methodologies in evaluating the rule of law. Experts provided valuable perspectives on the tools and approaches used to measure the impact of human rights on the rule of law. These methodologies were explored as essential components in assessing and reinforcing the connection between the two.

Hosted by FRA Director: We were honored by the presence of the Director of the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA), who played a pivotal role in facilitating discussions and offering valuable insights. Her contributions significantly enriched the event’s depth and relevance.

This joint event, organized by LCH and FRA, served as a vital platform for fostering collaboration among a broad range of stakeholders. It allowed participants to share knowledge and engage in critical dialogue about how to address contemporary challenges to the rule of law and human rights in Europe. The discussions and interdisciplinary approach provided a deeper understanding of these complex issues and potential pathways toward solutions.
